Just pack in 5 gallons of what you prefer (I would research Biome Ultimate). The type of Media can be bought at your liking. The less complicated the less that goes wrong, It is a non stop workhorse that will never over heat, simply because it is run by a magnet. It took me a while to realize the tubing had to be cut in order to attach the green tubes. Instructions were okay, I just had to glance at the diagram to build it. I looked through all of the components (including the lingering seal) to make sure none were missing or broken. Imported from Germany, like the Volkswagen Jetta, there must be a premium to pay. It is made of basically the best materials out there wi th modern technology, just like the box states. Then, I actually thought about the design and materials I was looking at.

Now, when I unboxed it, My first impression was, 'I paid all that for this'? Mind you, it seemed as if it was literally a 5 gallon plastic bucket. (perhaps due to the technology involved… microchip) There is a difference between this 2262 and the 2260, the 2262 has an upgraded pump of an out put of 900 gallons per hour, no media included. It seems to me that the f圆 had more equipment malfunction than the eheim 2262. However, after much consideration and after reading reviews, I finally decided to buy this one. Filters are a personal choice I just use what I know won't let me down.When I was about to purchase this filter, I was undecided and was tempted on the fluval f圆. I highly recommend Filstar filters, but I don't take it personally if some people don't like them. I've been looking for a used tank I can recondition (one of my side businesses/hobbies) that comes with an Eheim, but haven't found one yet. I've had several other brands of canister filters but never a Sunsun or an Eheim. I've got an XP-XL and an XP-L on a 150g, an XP-L on a 72g, an XP-M on a 30g, an XP-M on a 28g hex, and a spare XP-L. Priming is a piece of cake, no sucking on hoses or flimsy pump. I like their hoses the best, their baskets the best, they're virtually silent, zero bypass, I can have one totally cleaned in less than 10 minutes, and my oldest one has been in 24/7 operation for more than 13 years. I honestly have nothing negative to say about them. I see some reviews saying they didn't like the quick release valve, but it's by far the best I've seen on any filter I've used.

I've got 6 of them now of all sizes except the smallest (XP-S). It is mechanical filter media, but I see why they quoted it the way they did. I would consider the foam around the trays media. BDpups The FX6 holding less than 2 gallons of media is what I was questioning.
